Together in Community

October 21, 2025, 8:00 PM

In recent decades I’ve heard more people than ever say they don’t need to belong to a church or other spiritually supportive group to be spiritual, that they can worship God on their own better than with others. I know it’s not my place to judge, but this certainly seems wrongEspecially for women.

We women, like female bees, lions, and elephants, are communal critters. We thrive on being around other women and wither when we’re not. When I write about girlfriends—how much we need each other, what a lifesaver it is to have besties and BFFs, and how dark our lives would be without them — I get the most responses.   The saddest comments I receive are from women who lament that they have no girlfriends and ache to be part of a close circle of women. These are among the most difficult comments to address digitally.

As God’s women, isn’t this what we also crave? We yearn to gather as a community to bond with likeminded women to support mutual spiritual growth and sisterhood, to come together to connect regularly with women who share our faith, and to work together doing what God asks of us and sharing His Love in this world.

By the grace of God, we who are part of UWFaith will never be without a circle of loving women who care about us, and support, listen to, counsel, and worship together. I’ve only scratched the surface of how our UWFaith sisterhood cares for our souls and assists in our spiritual growth as we, in turn, care for women, children, and youth in our communities and across the world.

To explore more about the importance of being in a community of God’s women, come, join our next (and final for the year) Mini Soul Care Zoom Retreat on October 30 when we talk about the blessedness of sisterhood. Please register here.

Peace and love.
