As I am about to complete the sale of my mom’s house, legacy is on my mind every day. My brother, sisters and I have gone through all of Mom’s earthly belongings, rehoming everything we could, and thanking many other items for their service before tossing them into the trash. (She never threw away a greeting card and lived to be almost 98 years old- so there were a lot of them!) Her legacy, of course lives on in each of us and in her 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
United Women in Faith, in 2014, a few years before our 150th anniversary, gave members and friends the opportunity to support the legacy of this organization which is so important to us. With the idea that an endowment fund could enable us to support the total program of United Women in Faith far into the future, a lofty goal of 60 million dollars was set, and we are getting SOOO close! Our Legacy Fund balance is currently over 54 million dollars!! We hope to celebrate achieving our goal at the Legacy Fund Banquet in May 2026 during Assembly. YOU can be part of making our dream a reality.
Won’t you take just a moment to give? And encourage others you know to do the same! Just like our foremothers who collected their pennies to fund missionaries Isabella Thoburn and Dr. Clara Swain to India- many small gifts can add up to a meaningful legacy for many years to come!
There are several levels of giving:
- One time gift of any amount at any time
- Legacy Builder- Give recurring gifts of at least $18.69 monthly
- Friend of Legacy- Major gift of $5000 or more. This may be divided and given over 3-5 years.
- 1869 Society – Planned gifts may include will bequests or estate gifts, life insurance policies, the sale of assets or property, appreciated securities, retirement funds, or IRA Charitable Rollover gifts.
